Each time it hits the ground it bounces to half the previous height. The ball is caught when the height of its bounce is 3 cm. What is the total distance the ball has traveled?

  1. the peak of the bounce is never 3 cm

so I'll assume you mean when it hits 3cm on the way up, which is after the first bounce.

    distance traveled is 12.03 meter

    .

  2. It's a pattern-

    12 + 6 + 6 + 3 + 3 + 1.5 + 1.5 + .75 + .75 + .375 + .375 + .1875...

But it never goes through the 0.3 mark, so the answer must be somewhere in between the last 2 numbers.

  3. Further to the above, 3cm is 0.03m
