  1. Ok, a few of the answers I read mean well but are wrong.

Any business owner or manager has the right to refuse service to people and a few others not necessarily "rights" but they have a little leeway... MAYBE when it comes to limiting what a patron/customer can and can't do; but putting hands on a person is not one of them. This manager is a member of the community just as you and your friend are, if he/she feels your friend is out of line and asks you to leave and you don't, then they may try to physically move you atleast to outside the bar. You may or my not have a case depending on all of the circumstances.

If the manager just brushed by you on the way to a fight or other urgent matter, you would do best by letting it go. However, it the manager pushed your friend as a challenge/dare or bulling affect; yes, I'd make a report to the police.

A wrong person is wrong no matter who they are or what they've done. Business owners/managers and politicians don't get any special treatment from me, they are a citizen just like everybody else; several locals here have already found that out.

  2. In California, you can make a battery report.  However, it will be a he said, she said...  Which pretty much means that the case will probably get no where.  Good luck!

If there is even a remote reason why the manager pushed your friend...  IE: friend refused to leave, friend jumped in managers face or something of that nature...  Then you simply don't have a case.  Interacting with the manager is kind of like interacting with the police, obviously something was wrong in order to warrant such attention.

  3. a bar manager is like a capt. of a ship.what he says is law,

  4. If the bar manager pushed someone they will always be heard more than the person who was pushed. Remind your friend that they need to behave in a certain way when confronted by managers, bouncers or bartenders or they run the risk of getting shoved. Sorry. No one in law enforcement will listen to your friends story over the manager.
