I didn't write this poem, but I felt it was so beautiful I had to post it on here.Leaves of green turn to shades of brownThen leave their stems just to flutter downSmells of the sea join the evening breezeAs newborn stars start to fill the treesWith blanket underneath and the sky aboveI wonder why it is I never fell in loveSilence speaks though my tongue retreatsAnd dew lays thick on my hands and feetThe sky grows gray like the thoughts in mindAnd I look back at the road I've just left behindFire brims the surface of a waking landIt overflows across the sky and the ocean's sandThe roars of waves reach an ultimate highAnd a seagull wakes with its screeching cryI stretch my arms and brush my eyes clear of sleepUndreamt dreams are what I wish to keepBut I gather my blanket and wrap them safely insideLike the sand on my feet, I let my longing for them slideAs I walk back toward the road I see others running pastThe clouds they kick up in the air never lastBut no one ever stops running just to lie on that sandTo escape from the world and hold our dreams in our hand
