Question:

A bee stung me near my eye and now there's swelling. Advice, please!?

Yesterday afternoon, I was stung by some kind of flying insect. It was kind of the color of a wasp but shaped like a hornet, I'm guessing, if I had to, that it was a hornet. It stung me a little below the end of my eye brow, and didn't look too bad until this morning, when it swelled up to the point that I can barely open my eye now. It doesn't hurt too bad, only itches slightly.

I don't believe that I'm allergic to bee stings, and there was no stinger in the wound. I feel like that's all the advice I've been getting from web sites. Please help me. I don't know what medicines to take to make the swelling go down. This is an extremely inconvenient situation and makes me look ridiculous. Thank you!

  1. Dont even worry about it as long as it hasnt hit

your eyeball your allright just give it a few days so that

the poison dissapears, thats what i did when i got stung

by a wasp, i recommend sweating alot because the poison

might dissapear quicker and flow out of the body through sweat.

  2. I have been keeping honey bees for several years now and i feel pretty confident about answering this one. Some form of benidryl or antihistamine will help with the itching and possibly the swelling if taken soon after the sting. You will receive lots of input about thinngs like meat tendorizer, tobacco, baking soda an other topical treatments. they are all just wives tales. I have tried and none seam to work. the venom of a wasp is different than that of a honey bee. a honey bees venom is an irritant used to defend the hive while a wasps venom is used to kill its prey. My best advice is to not rub or scratch and let it run its course. it is normal for it to be sore for a coupel of days

I have had stings itch and be sore for as little as a few minuts or as long as a weak

  3. I advise seeing a doctor.

  4. ice application ,

  5. Ice the sting and take some Benadryl.

  6. Well, sorry to hear about your sting... I would take Benydril over the counter meds for the swelling and inflamation.....but for right now... I'd take baking soda and water (make a paste) and put it over the actual bite. This will draw our any poison left. It looks dumb....but it works... leave it on for about 20 minutes or so.

    Good luck
