every week, i run a mile in p.e. a typical 4 lap mile. im 5'4 120lb. and i run it in around 9:30. :[ i asked my teacher how i can improve, and he said just run more often. so im planning on going for cross country this summer. :] ive always wanted to have endurance and cross country is perfect. as im in cross country, im gonna get a personal trainer at a gym & work on little things. but for now i guess i just need to run ore often. so if i were to run 5 days a week, just a mile, how drastically would my mile tie increase??

  1. i run cross country and if you're looking to improve you're mile time then one mile a day might not be enough. i'd start out with running/walking about 3 miles a day, and ONLY walk when you have to. you will be very sore the first few days but it will help alot. the personal trainer will really help too. when you get better and have better endurance, get in about 2-3 miles on easier days and 4-5/6 on harder days. that's what our coach does for us at practice. hope this helps. =]

  3. It depends, if you run them hard and your dead tired at the end, it would improve a ton!!! But if you work so your ot even tired, not at all.

  4. when u docross country, u run 2-3 miles A DAY, so yeah, ur mile time time will drop down a bunch. Next year when u do the miles, if u stick to cross country, u'll probably get 8 or 7 minutes. Cross country is great! Go for it, but it's tiring

  5. 1 mile a week or a mile each day for 5 days?

I'm guessing you mean the 2nd one though. If you did that it probably would increase about 1 minute. Try running more than that like 3-4 miles on hard days 1-2 days a week and 2-3  1-2 days a week. Have one day where you run 1-2 miles. Make sure you take a day of the week off though, because it can hurt you if you overwork your muscles. If you do what i just said I bet you could be at least a 8:00 in a month, probably even 7:30 or so if you work at it.
