This was strange i never heard of this before i believe it was a gull or a sea gull for some reason that crashed into my window and broke my window in the living room.

I live in the city of new york and i live on the a 13 floor from the 20 floor building all of a sudden i was at the kitchen cooking. Suddenly i heard the glass from the window break as if the window has fallen and crashed and on the floor.

I seen a dead bird i believe is a Gull which is white and live near rivers seas or near Landfills.

The gull was dead and was scared and i wonder what caused it to crash in my window i called animal patrol to remove it because i am extremely afraid of dead animals.

What might it cause to crash into my living room window?

  1. The bird probably just didn't realize there was a window there.

  2. I can imagine that you would have been scared to hear such a large bird hit your window.  Birds often see the window as an open space, they see the reflection of the trees, land, sky, etc and they think they can fly through it.  Here are a few ideas that you could try to prevent future injuries:

"Break up window reflections by sticking objects to the outside of the glass.

"Disrupt reflections with spray-on materials or soap"

"Attach branches in front of windows."

"Attach hanging objects to deter birds."

  3. Well the Gulls mate was rather mad at it so it threw it out of the nest right into your window.

OK on a more serious note.... there could be many contributing factors only the gull will know.

  4. a really heavey wind might have blown it off course.

  5. birds usually crash into windows because they see a reflection of a tree.  My suggestion would be to put up a sticker on the window, so they stop crashing into it.
