  1. If you don't want to get stressed out, DON'T START CHARTING!!!  I chart and now an obsessed with doing it, so yes, it is very stressful.  I find myself waking up more at night just to take my temps, ugh~!!  I dont' want to, but it's like a subconscious thing, since I want to get pregnant so badly.

Anyways, if you are thinking of going that route, sign up at www.fertilityfriend.com and they basically walk you through the steps of charting and your body's other fertile signs.

Goodluck and baby dust to you!!!

  2. Your fertile window begins around 5 days before ovulation until the day after it and yes, sperm does live for up to 5 days in a fertile environment. If your cycles are regular, I'd suggest starting with OPKs for one month, see how that goes, and then start charting after that if you don't see a pattern (or if you're irregular) Be sure to chart at http://www.fertilityfriend.com and they'll send you daily tutorials to talk you through how it all works. It's totally FREE.

It can get stressful, so my new approach is to chart from CD1 until 3dpo (after ovulation is confirmed) and then stop charting until the end of my cycle and start again when AF arrives. Once you know your normal pre-ov and post-ov temps, this is easy to do. Good luck!

  3. I agree that charting is stressful. The only reason why I started doing it was because I wasn't sure if I was even Ovulating let alone when. But now that I've figured out I do always around day 17 of my cycle, I'm so glad I started doing it! You can learn a lot about your body, especially when you chart on fertility friend. BUT, I've decided that I'm going to Stop charting now. I know what I need to know, and I don't need to keep thinking about it, and making sure I wake up at the same time and so on. Now I'm going to let nature take it's course and just make sure I BD a lot around day 17. Although Sperm CAN last UP TO 5 days,  the average is about 24 hrs. And the Egg once released is 12 to 24 hrs, sometimes less.

SO anyways, my opinion is don't chart unless you feel you need to, or just do it temporarily. I don't think we need that added stress.

  4. Sperm lasts three days as soon as it exits his body, and egg lasts 24 hours, so you need to be quick, you need to make sure you take your temperature before you go to bed, then once it goes up try for a baby. I was on the pill for 16 years and from coming off the pill to getting pregnant it took me 7mths
