Basically i was running with a blister then it popped, i continued to run on it(i run 6 miles a day on the treatmill). Now that it has popped it hurts alot when i run, yesterday about 30 min into the run my knee(on the same leg when i have a blister on the bottom of my foot) started to hurt, it hurt all day yesterday, and i had to stop running at about 40 min in today due to pain. I am woundering if the knee pain is due to the blister or if it is unrelated. What should i do is there somthing i can put on my knee to stop the pain or should i stop running. Any advice would help!1!

  1. Just a guess here, but I'd wager you are changing your stride a little to compensate for the blister.  Even a degree or 2 of change totally changes the way your legs and knees absorb your weight when running.  This can easily lead to knee pain.

I would take some time off from running - do your cardio training on an eliptical or a cycle until the knee pain subsides and the blister is 100% healed.

In the mean time, ice is a miracle!  Keep the knee iced to minimize swelling and pain.  And monitor it - it's entirely possible the 2 are unrelated, and knee problems are no small matter.

  2. It could be related, because you could change your gait to compensate from the pain and blister.  Get 2nd Skin and put that on your blister/or use Glide on your troubled spots, maybe you need new runners (go to a running store to get properly fitted)  Take a rest day, it won't hurt you.  Recovery is a good thing.  It teaches us runners to be patient, listen to our bodies and look after it.  Try pool running for a break from the treadmill while recovering.  That way it will keep up with your running without stressing your knees or blisters.

    Good luck:)
