Question:

A blue-ray recorder?

My home theater system is going to be converted to fit a blu-ray player soon enough, luckily, theres still time :P But since I'm upgrading (theres debate about it being better then HD DVD...I guess) or converting to blu-ray, I might as well take this chance to ask, are there blu-ray recorders out there yet? Also, as a side note, does the PS3 or an upcoming version of the PS3 come with a blu-ray recorder?

  1. As of today Blu-Ray is the Newest champ in video formats.  So blue-ray is the way to go.  Yes the players are out.  They have been out for awhile.

And yes the current version of the PS3 has a blue-ray player built in.

  2. yes there are some records becoming available, but very very expensive There is  a Sharp AQUOS BD-HDW20  selling for about $2,500, not sure of the price of other recorders probably pretty close to the Sharp. there are more afordable Blu-Ray recorder drives for your computer

  3. Yes, I am aware of several Blue-Ray Burners available for your computer ($350-$700).  Further, PS3 will play Blue-Ray discs, at an amazing increase in startup speed.  Not sure why.  IMHO, this makes the purchase of the PS3 worth its weight.  Also, rumor has it, Sony is coming out with a new PS3 with expanded Harddrive.

  4. ps3 has NOT got a recorder. it PLAYS Bluray Discs.

but get one anyway because they are awesome

don't worry about a bluray recorder yet. it's still very new. h**l there's still HD's around. once they've cleared off completely then there's a good chance that bluray will be dominating the market.
