A blue synthetic turf to be laid down in the Hockey Club of Pakistan
The manager of the national junior hockey team, Rana Mujahid, stated that the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is planning to renovate the pitch of the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP).  The new blue coloured synthetic turf will be quite similar to the one
that will be used for hockey matches during the Olympic Games to be held in London, England in July 2012.
At the moment, the HCP has an outdated green turf. Although both the turfs – green and blue – are approved by the International Hockey Federation (FIH), blue turfs are gaining more acclaim internationally.
“We would be contacting Sindh Chief Minister and the Governor to help us in equipping Hockey Club with a blue turf. President Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Qasim Zia and Secretary Asif Bajwa would arrive here next week and we would then have a meeting
with the Governor and CM in this regard,” stated the manager and the camp supervisor of the national junior hockey team at HCP.
Meanwhile, Rana Mujahid also stated that the final trials of the junior hockey team will be conducted on October 15 up until November 1. Upon their selection, the junior Green-shirts will compete against seven international hockey teams in the Sultan of
Johor hockey tournament in Malaysia.
Alongside the junior team, the trials for the senior team will begin as well. They are scheduled to feature in the three-nation tournament in Australia, subsequent to a test match series against the reigning world champions, the Kookaburras.
The selection committee headed by Abdul Hanif Khan with Arshad Chaudhary and Khalid Bashir will be watching the trials.
