what are some good books about rockets, traveling to the moon, etc.?

The internet has a good source of e-books about the early German V2 rockets that are recognized as the predecessors of the early Mercury rockets that took Alan Shepard on his historic first trip into space, also there is lots of source material about Wernher von Braun and Robert H. Goddard.
