A book with a girl called Euphemia, and a powerful enchanter who comes whenever his name is said...?

This is a child's book (Maybe young teens) that I read about 15 years ago and would dearly love to find so my neice's can enjoy it also. Any help trying to work out what it was would be gratefully received - either with title suggestions, or a database of this kind of stuff?

Yep, Charmed Life Diana Wynne Jones.  The sorcerer's name was Chrestomanci.  It's part of a series acutally although I never read any of the others.
