Here is a brain teaser i need the answer to. Three friends decided to order a pizza. The delivery person tells them the bill is $30. So, each person pays $10.

When the delivery person returns to the pizza shop, the cashier says that there was a mistake. The bill should have been $25 not $30.

The cashier gives the delivery person 5 $1 coins to take back to the friends. On the way back, the delivery person realized that the $5 could not be split three ways so he decides to keep $2 as a tip.

The friends paid a total of $30 ($10 each), They got $1 back each. This means that the three friends paid $9 each for the pizza which totals $9 each for the pizza. The delivery person has $2. This gives a total of $29.

Who has the other $1?

  1. LOL....grrrr

  2. No money is missing. The pizza cost $25 . The friends got back $1 each, so its $3.The delivery person took $2. If you total all that up, its $30. Therefore , no one has the other $1.

  3. it is selling price and cost price thing

who will never know where the h**l is 1$ if u look in to the problem in this way.

just read organees approach he/she  is right on instead of 27 it should be 28 then u will come to conclusion.

she just correct 27 to 28 good.

  4. there's no money missing because 25 divided by 3 is 8.3. sorry that's all i can work out for now. it's very complicated

  5. u ate it

  6. the store

  7. Its in the wording, which is wrong. We start with 25, which was the end price of the pizza. The friends all got back, in total 3 dollars. If we add their 3 dollars to the 25, we have 28. If you then add in the 2 dollars in tips the greedy, stealing delivery person awarded himself you get 30. So, in conclusion, no money is missing. We can all go home folks.

  8. This is a very tricky as well as complicated question. I asked my Math teacher this thing and she said it was senseless as the three friends have already paid $25. The question is correct but only till the $9 part. That is senseless. Actually we may feel its true but it is not. I'll tell you one thing.

    No money is missing.

$25 is with the store as cost for the pizza.

$3   is with the friends as change.

$2   is with the delivery person and is kept as tip.

    25+3+2= $30

So you see, no money is missing.

P.S.: I liked the question and so here is a star for you my friend.

    Have a good day!

    Regards

    Amal

  9. The tricky part is the last paragraph. If $9 is paid by the three friends, that makes it $27....out of the $27 paid, $2 is taken away from them by the delivery person, it is not paid, so instead of adding $2, you need to subtract it to get $25. Remember the amount actually paid to the restaurant is only $25.

    $30 - ($9 *3) - $2(tip) = $25

    Therefore, the store has $25

the friends get $1 each back = $3

    the delivery person has $2

hey...not fair...the answer right above mine was edited way after mine was posted!
