  1. Weeds are plants that grows FASTER than cultivated crop and compete with them for nutrients, light and space thus resulting in economical loss. Weed seeds germinate earlier; their seedlings grow faster; they flower earlier; and form seeds in profusion; and mature ahead of the crop they infest.

Weeds belong to the class Angiospermae (flowering plants) which have two subclasses: Monocotyledoneae (monocots) and Dicotyledoneae (dicots). On the basis of the habitats, they are divided into terrestrial and aquatic categories, and on the basis of the duration of life they are divided into annuals, biennials and perenials.

In any farm if there are weeds then they mainly compete with crop for water and nutrients, and  saving of 750 to 1,250 tonnes of water per hectare of soil, forming a one-metre deep column, is possible by keeping the soil free from weeds.

Therefore controlling is most important and difficult. Widely used methods and mechanical and chemical. In mechanical method, a control is done by removing weeds or covering the spaces between 2 rows of crop by uncomposted agricultural material or growing green manure plants. But this method requirs labour and is a costlier one.

In chemical method, weeds are sprayed with herbicide or weedicide. These are the agents that kills weed. Chemical methods are of 2 types Foliar  and soil application. In foliar method these agents are sprayed and in soil application method carrier based agents and applied near roots of weed. These herbicide are contact, translocated and fumigants (soil application). But this method needs extra care and should be done under the observation of experts. Since the agents used do have similar type of action on crop also. In India, there are many cases of losing crop due to careless application of herbicides.

According to me, the best method could be cultural practice and use of biological agents. Although breakthrough is needs in biological control method but few weeds could be controlled using this method. Cultural method like covering the vacant area in field with uncomposted matter, crop rotation and pre-sowing land preparation activities.

  2. Pointing the herbicide near the weeds and clicking the button to release gas that destroy or kill weeds.

  3. you spray stuff on the weeds to kill them.

  4. weeds are sprayed with herbicides or weedicides to kill them and therefore prevent them from competing with crops for limited nutrients. there are various types of herbicides; while some are selective ie killing only the weeds, others are not and can kill every plant. as a result different herbicides may be suitable for different farms while time of application may also differ.

herbicides are sprayed with the aid of specialized equipment known as sprayers which are designed for the purpose. spraying is done by holding the sprayer such that the nozzle is pointed the weed to apply by pumping. this application is usually done under preasure

  5. What do you think they spray weeds for?  Farmers want them to grow big and tall so that they don't get a crop and lose money.

  6. You can do the rest of your homework yourself.  Lazy butt.
