A brief review of Andy Roddick’s 2010 performances
 
The former number one American tennis ace, Andy Roddick won a major title for the first time in his career back in 2003 at the US Open Grand Slam tournament. The American, who is, currently ranked as number nine by ATP is famous for his strong serves in the world of tennis.
As far as his 2010 performances are concerned, the twenty seven years old American started off the season by participating at the Brisbane International competition where he was seeded number one. Roddick came up well to the expectations of his fans and made his way into the final battle where he faced Radek Stepanek. The Texas resident Roddick did well to knock down the last year’s winner Radek in a total of two sets and thus captured his very first ATP Tour trophy after a period of one year. The final score was 7–6(2), 7–6(7). He along with James Blake also made it to the doubles semi final before falling down by Marc Gicquel and Jeremy Chardy.
The American however did not participate in the Davis Cup competition for his country this year.
At the hard court Grand Slam Australian Open tournament, the ninth ranked tennis ace, appeared as the seventh seeded player. He was knocked down in the quarterfinal round by Marin Cilic with a final match score of –6(4) 6–3 3–6 2–6 6–3.
After the grand slam event, Roddick contested in the 2010 SAP Open competition, where he did pretty well to reach the semi final round. The American thrashed out his compatriot player Sam Querrey in a total of two sets and made his way into the final battle. Roddick however, lost in the final round by Fernando Verdasco in a total of three sets. The final score was 6–3, 4–6, 4–6. Roddick then took part in the 2010 Regions Morgan Keegan tournament where he was defeated in the quarterfinal stage by Sam Querrey 5–7, 6–3, 1–6.
Contesting in this year’s BNP Paribas Open competition at Indian Wells, Andy reached the semi final round where he met Robin Soderling and in spite of having a record of 0–2 against him, he triumphed in the clash with a final match score of 6–4, 3–6, 6–3. He faced Ivan Ljubicic in the final battle who got the better of him in a total of two sets. It was Roddick’s first Masters Series final appearance after a period of four years. He previously made it into the final of the Cincinnati Masters back in 2006.
At the Sony Ericsson Open tournament, Roddick reached the final after upsetting Nadal in the semi final battle in a total of three sets. In the final match, Roddick successfully grabbed his second Sony Ericsson Open trophy of the career after thrashing out Tomas Berdych, 7–5, 6–4, in a total of two sets.
Talking about his second Grand Slam of the year, Roddick made it till the round number three of the clay court French Open tournament where he was knocked down by Teimuraz Gabashvili in a total of three sets.
At the grass court Grand Slam tournament this season, Roddick entered the All England Club as a fifth seeded player. The American could not past the fourth round of the tournament as he was hammered down by Lu Yen-Hsun in a total of five sets. The final score was 6–4, 6–7(3), 6–7(4), 7–6(5), 7–9.
Roddick recently participated in the Atlanta Tennis championship where he reached the semi final round of the tournament. The American was knocked down by Mardy Fish in the semi final battle in a total of two sets.
Therefore, in the light of his 2010 performances, the American tennis ace, Andy Roddick is expected to perform well in the final Grand Slam of the season, the United States Open 2010 to be held in the city of New York.
