A buddy of mine has decided to join the Canadian Army, is he crazy?

He's doing it because his education will cost him a fortune and by joining they will pay for his school and give him a salary. Everyone tried to tell him he nuts, it's a bad idea, even if you have a go nowhere job, at least you are alive. To me life is far to precious to even take the chance of losing it for an education.

Is he crazy?
