Question:

A bump on the side of my throat?

Today I was eating (to be specific, a hot dog), when all of a sudden, when I swallowed, I had a stinging feeling and it felt like a huge bump appeared on the left side of my throat. When I feel my neck, I have a bump at the top almost right under the back side of my teeth. When I push on the bump, it hurts and it seems to come up in my mouth. I know this sounds weird and maybe confusing, but it is really bothering me. I cannot eat, drink, or even swallow without it stinging. My stomach has recently started hurting and I'm not sure if it is due to the bump around my throat (draining of whatever is in my throat) or due to something else. I am thinking that I might have food stuck in a wrong "tube" of my throat, if that's possible. This has happened to me twice before. I have been to the dentist and they thought it might have been a swollen gland, but I'm not thinking it is. It happened suddenly while I was eating. Thanks in advance for you help and suggestions.

  1. It could be an infection that is indicative of hiv infection.

    How old are you?

  2. Edit your post and tell me if you have a lot/some heart burn and/or acid reflux. Also, do you have a postnasal drip.

  3. my feeling is that your stretched and tore something in your throat while you were eating...you will see in a couple of days if this is true, because it will go away. try to eat slowly, and drink fluids, and do not take on anything that you cant swallow without pain.  this happend to me a while back, and its scary, i know....but, i think i am correct ...give it time.

    best wishes
