You can't make fleas go away for free.  Sorry.

Fleas live in the carpeting of your house and feed on warm-bodied animals for food.  When they are done eating, they go back into the carpet.  So here is how you get rid of fleas in the carpet, which will get rid of them biting you.

Step 1:  Vacuum thoroughly EVERYWHERE (including under furniture) and seal up the vacuum bag and throw it away in an outdoor dumpster.

Step 2:  Spray every square inch of your carpeting and upholstery with a pyrethrin-based flea spray.  Don't use flea bombs since they don't thoroughly get every square inch of carpeting.  You have to manually apply the spray EVERYWHERE.  It is a long and tiring process!

Step 3:  Wait one week.  Then repeat from step 1.  The reason why you repeat the process is because some fleas will be in their cocoon stage.  Their cocoons can't be penetrated by the flea spray.  Waiting gives them time to mature so they will hatch.

Vacuuming is the crucial step, since it is actually the vibration of the vacuum cleaner that stimulates the fleas to hatch from their cocoons.  Then you get those little b******s with the spray and they DIE!  Woohoo!
