Please answer directly;

NOTE: I've viewed the official site, talked to recruiters, and would now like to hear from you all.

1. How do you become an officer in the Marine Corps SPECIFICALLY process wise ?

2. So you go to the recruiter.... you have a ... BS in lets say I don't know, engineering ? They say hi, and then what ?...

3. Do you HAVE to enlist BEFORE you know if you'v been accepted as an officer ?

4. I ask the above question because I wouldn't want to be denied, and then have to start at E-4 when I initially came in to be an O-1.

5. Is the school hard ?

6. Do officers spend more time behind desks, combat, work zone, all three, or one or the other ?

7. How realistic is it to be the general of the U.S. Marines some day ?

8. How would I target and chase this ?

9. Would you PERSONALLY suggest the marines ? Why or why not ?

Thank you all very much in advance.

  1. I wouldn't recommend the USMC for you..If you truly wanted to become a USMC officer then the least you can do is find these answers out by asking a real live USMC recruiter or a USMC officer..

    Being a USMC officer is not like the other services..To lead Marines you must be better then most..

  2. You go and talk to an Officer Selection Officer NOT a Marine Recruiter.   Only the OSO deals with Marines that have a degree and want to sign up for the candidacy.  The Marine Recruiters are for the people are enlisting.

    You will be shipped off to OCS and attend The Basic School at Quantico.  The stress factor in OCS is more concentrated at the physical level than mentally.  The Enlisted Boot Camp at MCRD is quite the opposite!  There is no screaming and harsh level of mental stress in OCS like in boot camp, and the physical training is more emphasized.  The hardest school in the Marine Corps for Officers is The Basic School, it is 6-months long and very demanding, covering from Marine Leadership to Infantry.  It is like the SOI and Boot camp combined! To answer #6, All of them, you will be required to be all those environments.

    There is a quota on how many Marine Generals that are to be filled and Congress only appoints those positions.  Most likely you be a Colonel for years before you see a star for brivate (not promotion).  Marine Corps will make a leader out of you whether you like it or not!  So I suggest the USMC 100-percent!

  3. Why don't you jsut go talk to a recruiter.Spend all the time you want here on Y(ive seen you on here a lot) but a bunch of people from the internet won't have the best up to date information.So buck up and walk in,your not obligated to sign anything.
