A/c blew in fiberglass insulation clothes, furniture etc.damaged will renters ins.cover it?

some how the fiberglass insulation in the a/c unit blew through my home for months through the vents and damaged everything (clothes, furniture) my landlord/father bought the used a/c unit frome some one who had a for sale add in the paper and he does not remember who hooked it up years ago.will renters insurance cover my damages? american summit says i need to pay for a professional to come check out the a/c to see if it malfunctioned and i can't afford it and would like to file a claim because this situation has run me & my children out of our home to a travel trailer and all my money is going for clothing bedding ect.i don't know were to turn this has also caused health issuse (hospital) lungs.how do i find out information? i thought my insurance provider would be the ones responsible to hire some one to investigate?

  1. If its got you in such a financial bind - the only thing to do is turn in the claim.  If they pay for it - great. If the don't - it only cost you time and you are exactly where you are now.

    Only a claims adjuster with your company can tell you if this is covered. Even then, that is only after they do an investigation.


  2. your father needs to have the a/c looked at.  this sounds to me like there's a hole in the ductwork in the attic -- the fiberglass enters through the hole and then the a/c unit spreads it around.

    squirrels, maybe?  or raccoons?  either could make a hole in the ductwork, esp. if part of it isn't sheet metal.
