I drive a 2001 Ford Explorer SPORT. I was told a week ago that my clutch in my ac compressor needed replaced so I didn't run the air any more seeing I didn't have the money to get that fixed yet. My car died yesterday won't start took it in said the serpentine belt locked up and now the compressor needs replaced. It's going to cost 675.80. I'm getting someone else to do it but if I replace the compressor what else needs replacing with it and whats a good parts website to order from?

  1. If the clutch bearing locked up and eat into the mounting of the A/C compressor then it will have to be replaced. Compressor assy. (complete & after market) is usally priced $300 and up.If you get someone else to do it they will have to have the recovery/vacuum/recharge machine to do it right.

I would suggest to start online w/auto zone-advance-napa

    Hope this helps.

  2. Just replace the clutch. Not the hole compressor. The clutch is replaceable.
