  1. LOL Are you a redneck from West Virginia!

  2. As long as you have side mirrors that you can see out of it is legal.  You must be able to see behind your vehicle in at least on place.

  3. HVAC Tech.:  YES you can. But it wont help a lot. Some professionals I know have stuck them in the rear windows of vans. They make Inverters that can give you over 5000 watts of power. You only have to match the power supply to the a/c. There are also ac generators that will run off your battery. The average under the hood a/c is around 4 ton, the average window unit (that would fit) is going to be less than 1/2 ton.      Not recommended unless you are going to set still for long periods of time and can plug in to 120volt outlet.

  4. a bk window is not a gd idea, because of safty/health issues. now a a/c unit sold for small campers & mounted on cab roof has been done here in ohio. visit an rv dealer & talk to a person that can answer ALL yr ?'s and not just sell the units.

  5. Are you serious??? If you do this, please take a picture. That would definitely be worth circulating.

  6. as said before, having your side mirrors available, is a definite must. However what i would have to consider here, is the amount of current you will be using, to operate the AC unit.

most DC to AC inverters are good for 1200 to 1500 watts of continuous power, generally designed for low current equipment; TV, VCR, DVD, laptop and so forth. Although an AC unit can draw about 5 to 7 amps if not more. This would equate to about 600 to 840 watts of power that would be seriously draining your battery down. The implications could be serious, and also put a burden on your alternator. I wouldn't recommend this, as this could cause you more serious problems with your vehicle. Also be aware that your inverter may have the capability to handle the current, however your vehicle wiring may not.
