  1. When the outside unit is not running after checking the thermostat and knowing the indoor blower at the furnace is running.

the problem is probably in the outside condensing unit. It could be one of several things. some examples: 1. Off at the head presure safety switch due to the outside fan being bad and not running. 2.Off due to a lack of freon causing it to stop on the low pressure switch. 3. Off on internal over load protection inside your compressor. 4. A bad relay or coil in the relay that starts the outside unit. 5. Bad or burned wire terminals somewhere in the electrical circuits. ETC. It looks as if you have done all you can do yourself...It's time to call in a good HVAC Tech. and have him check it out.

  2. is there air coming out the vents.....if so u need to have ur freon checked and coils cleaned....if no air then a problem with compresor or thermastate...u need a tech....

  3. "pulled the big fuse looking thing out side and nothing there" What does that mean?  There is no fuses mounted in that? Is there a breaker there?  You need somebody knowledgeable to check to make sure you have voltage there.

You can't tell fuses are good by looking at them. But some have a breaker and a few have neither in that outside box, only a cut off.

Sometimes there is cover over the fuses.

Your controls, Tstat and furnace are okay if that comes on.

You could have lost power or have a bad contactor in the condenser unit outside. Or maybe cut the 24volt control wires to it with the weedeater. or something like that.

Good Luck, get out your meter.

  4. If the blower on the furnace is comming on then you have a good blower circut to the blower from tstat. You mentioned fuses outside, check continuity through them. Beware thoiug some times a fuse will check ok with ohms and continuity but will still be bad. look fro discoloration. The natural color of the metal on the fuses is anywhere from siler color to brass or copper colored. A discoloration would be anythin darker mayep like off red for brass or possible purple. These would be suspect. If this is ok check for 220V at the disconnect where the fuses are. If this is ok you did not mention that you have had the unit serviced in the past 2 years and the copil may be plugged with dirt and tree lint. And if so there may be an over pressure switch located on the unit. Usually a small red button is pushed for resetting it. If it starts after this make sure the outdoor coil is clean and watch and listen to the fan motor. A bad fan motor or capicator then may be your problem.

Also I dont have to tell you, Im sur,e but you have to keep things clean to expect them to perform. A car wont make it 3 years with the same opil in the engine, or a lawn mower with the same gas... bad example...my point is that even if its a year old it may need to be cleaned. If you havent had the system checked in 3 years its most likely time to do so.

Hope this helps let me know... Please.

  5. its probably a bad contact set contracters always say its something really bad  when its a simple fix

  6. Could be a number of things; Does it have a high pressure manual reset on the outdoor unit ? Are the fuses good in the "Thingy" ? Is it out of freon, and the low pressure cut-out safety have it disabled ? Is the dual run capacitor good, or has it failed ? Your question is very general, and difficult to answer without specifics of Make, and Model of your equipment, along with the SEER rating ( as that different ones have different features). Sorry, I know that this hasn't helped much, but it's all I can do from here.
