  1. The conversion factor for miles per hour and meters per second is:

    1 mile per hour = 0.44704 meters per second

    60 mi/hr x 0.44704 = 26.8224 m/s

    a = ∆v / ∆t = (27 m/s - 0 m/s) / 3.9 s = 6.9 m/s²

  2. 1 miles per hour = 1/2.23693629 meter per second

    60 miles per hour = 26,8224 meter per second

    so

    a (acceleration) = Δv (change in velocity) / Δt (change in time)

    =26,8224 / 3,9 = 6,877538468 m/s^2 ≈ 6,9 m/s^2
