Question:

A career in Aeronautics Engineering?

Hello, let me first describe my ambitions. I have wanted to be an Engineer since I was 10 years old. When I was 14 years old I narrowed my field of choice down to Computer Engineering, yet after a few years thinking it over, I became less interested in Computers. Then I realized a field that I was entirely interested in: Aeronautics Engineering.

I live in Texas and I do not know of any large Aeronautic Engineering jobs. I would prefer to be involved with the military, but I don't know if I would have to go to the frontlines to start a career in the army.

Basicly I am asking Is Aeronautics a rewarding career/ are there good options in the field, and if i'm interested in being an Aeronautics Engineer in the military, would I ever have to serve as a soldier or could they just hire me?

  1. Any career is totally the result of what you make it. If you work hard, it will be very rewarding, as it was for me. Military service is not a prerequisite. For me, it was helpful because of the nature of my assignment. The important and critical thing is that you continue to complete your education. You need at least a bachelor's degree, and probably nowadays a master's degree, in engineering - preferably aerospace or mechanical. Then you can decide what you really want to do and have the options to do it.
