it's apparently a stray, but it looks well fed to me. anyway, i keep chickens and they are turned out loose in the garden during the day. the cat keeps coming in and trying to have a go at the chickens. i've no wish to hurt the cat, but it's a danger to my chickens. is there a way to keep the cat away from my garden that wont affect the chickens?

  1. Ther are several ways but the most effective is to get a silent alarm.

It produces a sound at a very high frequency inaudable to humnan ears but very annoying to cats that will dter the feline from coming into the garden. I shouldnt think it would affect the chickens

  2. A super-soaker won't hurt the cat, but he won't like it!

  3. If you live near a safari park, ask them for some lion or tiger dropings and put in your garden, you wont have any more cats after this, this is not a wind up,it really works.

  4. cats don't go after chickens but fresh garlic cats don't like it

  5. Cats are wily, try the super-soaker with a citrus based water. Most four-legged animals do not like citrus smells. Not sure about chickens.

  6. they say things like mirrors keep them away but know my cat quite likes them.  however they do dislike water. you could try putting a sprinkler out or have a container with water in to spray.  cats hate water. bless it tho!

  7. which is more important your chucks or the cat......get a gun,

    shoot the bleedin cat,

  8. Maybe you could build more of an enclosure for the chickens. They could still have a lot of room, but that way they would be safe from the cat. Me and my friend actually built an enclosure out of clear type netting (sturdy netting though) and pieces of wood it has a door and everything; it's actually for my cats but I'm sure it could be for any animal. If that's not an option for you then I would agree with what other people said about throwing water on the cat each time you see it or getting the hose, after awhile it should go away.

  9. Throw a bucket of water over it everytime you see it.. You'll probably only see it once or twice after that.

  10. get a fox

  11. You can go to a pet store and get a thing that will keep cats away. It is like a little spray, its not expensive, just ask the store worker

  12. I'd be wary of the silent alarms - they'll affect other animals too.  Lion poo is supposed to work - I think the brand is called Silent Roar or something.  Your garden centre should sell it.
