A cat vomit question? Help please!?

My one year old Hobbes has been vomiting today. He's vomited a few other times since ive had him, but never as excessively as today. The first time today, there was food in his vomit, and then after that, the vomit has been clear/whitish. Ive noticed that he hasnt been eating much either and he'e just been resting/being lethargic, which bothers me because he's always had a healthy appetite and been very very playful. I'm calling the vet tomorrow, but was wondering if there was anything i could do to help him out until then. What could be the problem? What can i do till i talk to the vet tomorrow?

  1. Well, something's obviously upsetting him, and the white/clear vomit means that his stomach is empty and he's only vomiting bile. I suggest trying to get him to drink some water to keep up his hydration. Also, something gentle like the gravy from one of his favorite canned cat foods, or the juice from a can of tuna could help tide him over. I'm glad you're calling the vet. In the meantime, talk to him nicely and explain that you know he's not feeling well and you're taking him to get better tomorrow. It's amazing how well they can understand us when we explain things like that, and does wonders for their peace of mind.

  2. first and foremost try to keep him as hydrated as possible until seeing the vet

if he won't voluntarily drink, wet your fingers as much as possible, like till they drip, and rub them inside his lips and over his gums

when my cat was near death i swear this is the only way she survived

it may help flush out what's happening inside and will help keep him hydrated and his temperature regulated somewhat

try taking him to the cellar to keep his body temp down

he may have just eaten some grass, or his food was bad, or he may have the flu, cats get the flu too

regardless, bring him into the vet asap so they can determine exactly why he's vomiting

    good luck to Hobbes!!

  3. Maybe the emergency vet place would answer this for you.  Give them a call and ask.

  4. the food vomit is because he is eating too much. that just happens. but you should see the vet for the other ones. maybe (i'm just guessing) the cler one is because of too much water...but i don't know. see a vet. they can help.

  5. It might be because he might have worms. Ask your vet to get a test done just in case. But its a good idea to take him to the vet :)
