I'm wondering if anyone has????? bless her little cottons as if they grow into full claws she wont be able too retract them and walking will be an problem I'm guessing! I'm going too take her too the vets and I'm sure she will have to have them removed somehow! Its very strange though don't you think??

  1. Mine has two claws growing out of her left 'thumb'.  When I took her to the vets, I pointed it out to him and he seemed really disinterested.  They don't bother her and she can retract them as well as the others.  She was about three years old when she decided to move in with me.  Unless yours are a problem, it may well be that the vet will leave them alone.  There is no need to have anything done to them if they are for cosmetic purposes only.  If they are a problem, then I am sure your vet will suggest what the best option is.

  2. They need a scratching post as the old nails grow out and the new nails can grow on top. Can be a problem if they're kept indoors and don't get to scratch. Might not be that but difficult to tell without seeing.

  3. could be evolution. you never know really. maybe he had too much ginger.

  4. it is strange ... never heard of a cat with 2 sets of claws ,,,

  5. Send a photo to the Daily Telegraph. They've got a photograph of a cat with four ears today!

I think it's likely to be a congenital abnormality, possibly incomplete formation of a Siamese twin.

  6. Mine can do enough damage with 1 set! Good luck :P

  7. She might have what's referred to as "horned" paws.  See the link below for photos and info.

Hope she gets on okay at the vets.

  8. yes

    i've never seen that before

  9. Take her to the Vet. If she cannot retract this second set of claws, they are probably going to have to be removed. This is not declawing the cat. She may be crippled otherwise. Good luck..........Keep us informed.

  10. That's really strange.

The vet might recommend declawing her.

If I'm picturing it correctly, in this case, declawing would not be cruel, as your cat would likely be crippled otherwise.

Personally, I'd rather have my toes amputated and be able to walk than not have them amputated and be unable to walk.

  11. Vets declaw cats all the time and it might be best to do that? I've heard of mitten toed cats which are cats that have an extra toe but this sounds quite different. You might want to take pictures of it's extra claws before doing anything and post them on line just to see what others might say?

  12. It is likely either a congenital defect, or if you had your cat declared previously it was done incorrectly and the claws are regrowing through the paw pads (not all that uncommon).   Your cat needs to go the the vet, who will most likely suggest having the cat declawed or re declawed which ever the case may be.   While I am against declawings for connivance purposes in this case it is medically necessary, to allow the cat to be able to walk comfortably.

  13. get her to the vets and see what they say, please, unless it is in the best interest of THE CAT don't declaw the poor cat.
