Question:

A caul? My baby was born in a caul?

My water never broke when I was in labor. Nor did the doctor break it for me. Instead my baby was born with a "caul". That's right! He was born still in his amniotic sac.

I swear I had the most unusual birthing story. I had 100 percent back labor, and my baby boy was born with a caul!! LOL...SHHEEESH.

Has anyone else had a baby born with this? Do you think it's true what the superstitions say? How crazy..and WEIRD!

  1. A "caul" is just a veil..It's a piece sac ..It was broken..just came out with him not all the way out of the sac....Gosh.

  2. why didnt the doctor break your water.....

  3. well I don't really believe that it is good luck but My friend gave birth to her premature son still in the sac as well. he was still fully inside with the all of the fluid. He only weighed 2 lbs 2 oz but with the sac and water she pushed out the size of an 8 or 9 pound baby.

by the way he is 3 months old now  weighs 7 lbs and is doing beautifully.

  4. Its just something that happened. The caul is a normal part of what surrounds the baby and just didn't come all the way off during delivery before the baby came out.

You can let yourself be freaked out over it if you want to but its not like it grew around the baby for no reason and isn't normal. Its unusual but nothing to worry about.
