A chat with the four-time Irish Open winner Sophie Gustafson
As Ladies Irish Open draws near, many fans and golf enthusiasts have shown renewed interest in Sophie Gustafson because of her four wins in the tournament.
Sophie Gustafson won the event in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2010. The last two times, the tournament was held at the site of the 2012 edition, the beautiful Killeen Castle. This will prove be of great advantage to the Swedish star in the upcoming tournament.
Gustafson has an excellent golf record with 28 pro titles to her credit. Add this to the amazing 38 top-ten finishes and you have a golf player who is at the peak of her career. She has been a member of the European Solheim Cup team a record eight times.
Sophie Gustafson recently had a chat about her likes and the lighter side of her life. From the very first question, it was clear that this will be no ordinary chitchat session.
The first question was about something that her fans do not know about. This is a very personal question and gives the player a chance to open up about their life. Sophie Gustafson said that she figure skated till the age of 13.
In response to a fun question about switching places with anyone in the world, Sophie really surprised everyone. Instead of naming a celebrity, she named the current US President Barack Obama. When asked why, she said that she just wanted to know about what
is going on in the world.
Usually top players do not talk about their personal preferences. However, Sophie was very frank about her choice in gadgets. It turns out she is an Apple fan. She was asked about the gadgets she could not do without. She named her Apple gadgets - her iPhone,
Macbook and the iPad.
About her dislikes in food, she said that she does not eat liver or intestines of any kind. Similarly, when asked about her favourite songs, she said that she has got no particular favourite.
Finally, when asked about the quote she lives by, she revealed the commonsense approach that has made her the superstar she is. Shopie’s favourite quote: “Life is hard but it's really hard when you're stupid”.
