I live in the Wiltshire area and am looking to buy my first car. I am in full time education and have a job (only a weekend one) but as i have yet to complete my driving test, i don't want to spend loads of money on a car. Plus i'm not allowed to spend my bank savings so i only have 300 pounds maximum to spend. I would like something small and easy to park etc. i know that it is not alot of money but any sugestions would be gratefully received!

  1. Try just looking around for a neighbor with an unused car. It may be an eyesore to them, and you may get a deal.

Get test drives, and second opinions from others.        good luck

  2. Fiesta's are good because they're cheap to maintain (most Fords are)

Try this site (Desperate Seller) you may find something there

  3. chelz before you commit to buying anything check out insurance quotes first although you have up to three hundred pounds for the purchase of a small car, insurance on a small car can work out to be as expensive as two grand. you may be more beneficial saving as much money as you can towards a car once you have passed your test. also if you haven't passed your test any car you purchase is going to stand outside and be used on a minimal basis, it will still cost you loads on insurance and tax just to stand around 85% of the time.

  4. Theyre no good, and don't last for five minutes.

  5. Have a look on ebay, you usually find fairly cheap small cars like a punto, seicento, golf, panda etc..

  6. Go to auction & see what's there: A little Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, etc., plenty about for that sort of money.

ps the idea of not mentioning a Ford is that they're not as well built or reliable as a Japanese car - they WILL cost you more to run.

  7. Why buy a car when you can ride a giant cat bus ( MyNeighbor Totoro anyone?)

  8. My first car was a peugeot 205 and i loved it that much i'm now on my 4th! You should be able to get a good one, in decent condition for your budget. It may be a fair few years old, with higher mileage but in my experience the engine is always  fine. It's a small car, easy to drive. Go for a 1.1 which will make the insurance lower but will still be nippy enough if you get in trouble! Great on petrol too (very important these days!)  Try looking in the auto trader and there's loads of websites dedicated to 205 enthusiasts so you know it'll have been looked after . Good luck

  9. A Fiesta, Corsa or Peugeot 106 would be a good bet at that money, budget for the insurance though! It will be horrible!
