Question:

I am planning to go on exchange to a canadian university. Now after filling in my top 4 choices, I am stuck over whether to put Simon Fraser University or University of Calgary as the 5th choice.

Can someone tell me which one would be better: In terms of reputation of the university as whole, as well as reputation of its engineering courses?

  1. Couldn't you apply to both universities? If not then consider which university you think you'll fit better in - would you rather live in the Vancouver area or Calgary?

As far as engineering goes it seems like Simon Fraser has an Engineering Science program with five options: biomedical, computer, electronics, engineering physics, and systems engineering. They seem to be options within a single major:

Calgary has biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, geomatics, manufacturing, mechanical, oil/gas, and software engineering, and they seem to be majors:

    http://www.ucalgary.ca/departments?group...

So it all depends on what you're interested in. But it seems to me from the web sites (and I don't know anything about the programs personally) that Calgary has more engineering programs and offers more specialization in them.
