A church near Genoa?

Somewhere in or near Genoa, Italy (most likely in some near by village), there is a church built into the side of a cliff. I think it's in a cave or something. I was just wondering if anyone knew where it was or if it had a name.

  1. I think it is the medieval abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte  near the town of Camogli (Genova, Liguria). The church was built in the X-XI century.

  2. I guess you'd like to know something about the "Church on the Rocks" of Portovenere. I'm from Genoa, but I've never seen it because I've never gone to Portovenere (it's strange, isn't it? :-) ). I've seen some pictures, it's a great building "emerging" from the cliff (emerging is not the right word, it's not covered by water at all, but I hope you can catch what I'm writing ;-) ). I know that many romantic girls want to celebrate their weddings down there.

Portovenere is near La Spezia, a city 100 km eastwards from Genoa, on the coast, in the wonderful area called Cinque Terre (The Five Lands).
