A close contest expected in Rea Valley Juvenile Maiden Hurdle
A close competition is on the cards in the Rea Valley Juvenile Maiden Hurdle at Bangor-on-dee in England on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. There are quite a lot of young runners attracted towards the class-4 contest and none of them has ever managed to succeed
in a race over hurdles, which will make things interesting at the end of the day.
The stallions are not totally inexperienced, as they have appeared in competitive racing for their respective teams. However, they do not have much knowledge of hurdling and things will not be easy for them today.
Despite that, things will be even for everyone and no one will have any advantage over the other. The spectators will definitely enjoy this situation a lot, but the punters will have to do some homework before placing their bets, as there is a lot of risk
involved in any maiden contest.
There has been some rain overnight, which has left the ground as good to soft. This will make the conditions tougher for the participants and some of them might opt to pull out of the competition.
On the other hand, there is always a chance for some of the lesser favourite runners to cause an upset in a rain affected race, thus they will be eagerly looking forward to the start of action at 14:30 GMT.
Only the most deserving runner will manage to bag a cash prize of £2,534, as a lot of hard work will be required in order to shine over 2 miles and 1 furlong.
The punters will have a couple of good options to gamble on and one of them will be Counsel, who is quite a talented performer. He has been unable to display his true potential until now, but it will not be a clever idea to rule him out of contention completely.
The Donald McCain’s trained gelding will be partnered by one of the best jockeys in the business, Jason Maguire, who knows how to deliver a strong run in this format.
On the other hand, Suraj has got a great chance of bringing up his maiden victory over hurdles. The conditions will suit him more than others and he will definitely come out with all guns blazing under jockey, Richie McLernon.
