A coin with a diameter of 2.50 cm is dropped on edge onto a horizontal surface. The coin starts out with an initial angular speed of 15.3 rad/s and rolls in a straight line without slipping. If the rotation slows with an angular acceleration of magnitude 1.94 rad/s^2, how far does the coin roll before coming to rest? thanks a lot for any help....much appreciated!!!!!!!

  1. If theta is the angle of rotation in time t:

    0 = 15.3^2 - 2 * 1.94 theta

    theta = 15.3^2 / (2 * 1.94) rad.

    s = (2.50 / 2)theta

    = 2.50 * 15.3^2 / (4 * 1.94)

    = 75.4 cm.
