A cold during pregnancy 31 weeks?

Question

What are some of the things I can do to feel better. I have been coughing since Sunday and blowing my nose like crazy. I have gotten better (in terms of the coughing) My dr says I MAY need a antibiotic and it may be nothing (whatever that is supposed to mean)I don't want to randomly take antibiotics. baby seems to be doing fine hes moving all around like usual. What do you all do when you have a cold? Will this cold affect my baby? Thanks

Just having a cold isn't going to hurt the baby. Just make sure that you get a lot of rest and liquids. If you happen to get a fever let your doctor know.

Zycam to boost your immue system. Saline spray to help with sinus issues. And rest.

Tylenol if you must, but I've found that the saline spray (Simply Saline) is fabulous for runny noses, stuffy noses and in turn helps ease the coughing because the drainage chills out.

Hot Toddies are nice too:

equal parts lemon juice & hot water (about 2oz each)

honey to taste

Antibiotics are not for colds..totally overprescribed medication for no reason.  I got a cold a few weeks ago (Im also at 31 weeks now)..and I really just waited it out.  I drank a lot of tea (although I expect to get ragged on about the caffeine, I don't care) - a lot of self-soothing and sleep. Well I have been lucky and haven't had a cold or anything. (Knock on wood). It could be your allergies or a cold. Get it checked out. The doctor will not give you medicine that will harm the baby. Get it taken care of so that it does not turn into an infection of some sort.

I currently am on my 3rd sinus infection.  I have just been taking tylenol and drinking lots of fluids...blowing my nose until its raw...and coughing out my lungs.....  I have been using halls and mints to ease the cough...I hope this goes away soon!
