This morning I saw a commercial that showed a website to make your computer run faster regardless of how it is, what internet speed connection you are using etc. I know for sure it included the word fast on the website name but I can't remember the other word. It was something like fillingfast.com, I just can't remember. Can somebody help and if so, is the website effective?

  1. I generally have a list of things to do to keep your computer functioning at full potential ;)

Search for spyware and viruses. Use the following FREE protection:

    http://www.avg-download-free.net/ <- Anti-virus

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybo... <-Anti-Spyware

Defragment your hard drive. Do this by going to Computer or My Computer, right clicking on your hard drive (C:), going to Properties, tools, and selecting "Defragment Now" This could take hours, or even DAYS, so don't get impatient ;)

While you're here, you might as well run a disk cleanup too.

All of this should help ;)

I wouldn't trust any free "fixes" that promise faster computer usage, especially from rogue ads over the web.

  2. I would be very skeptical of this broad statement they claim. If fact, it may be a site that will infect your PC with a virus or mal ware ( advertising program).  The fact is, you would need to download and install any such of "speed up" program. And this might be what the site will do without you even knowing it. Many malicious programs are written to utilize Internet Explorer for this mischief. Some even claim to be virus removers but instead install the ADWARE program. My advice is to use FIRE FOX and turn on all the major protection features. This way you can visit the site in relative safety so you can see what they are offering.

The fact is ....your PC can only be as fast as the slowest part of any given senerio....that is if your on a slow working website...even if your PC is FAST, the load time will be slow.  It is best to upgrade (add)  RAM, then of course, have a good fast processor in your PC, as well as a high speed internet connection. Beyond these steps... please don't openly trust just any ad...they are out to sell and out to harm your PC.   Good Luck...be prudent....ask ask ask...then act.

  3. I googled it before visiting the web site and everything it does, for $29.85, you can do for free. Finally Fast I think it was. That's just like Stop Sign. Stay away from both.

Free programs out there, that have been thumbs up on many sites are:

    CCleaner

    Spybot

    AdAware

AVG AntiViruse ( only run one anti virus program on your comouter)

    Advanced Window Care (iobit.com)

Filehippo.com has most of them, but google them.

Never Never Never pay for these programs.

    Hope that helped

  4. Hello from the Tech:

I am not sure of that one there are several out there to help speed up internet connections to get the maximum speed out of you system.

The one I use often is Speedguide.net follow the link and review there materials.

    Have a gr8 day,

    Nighthawk

  5. im pretty sure the website is something like finallyfast.com. i have no idea if it works or not though.

  6. Most likely it's a fake anyhow.  What you can do is have proper virus/spyware protection on and running, doing scans weekly if not daily. You also want to defrag your drive, this is usually found under tools in your windows menu.  Also make sure you are cleaning your pc, both physically and internally. Keep the fans clean of dust and debris, and clear out your cache in your internet browser including cookies.
