  1. Ice wedging. Water seeps into little, minuscule cracks in the rock, then at night freezes. When water freezes, it expands, and as it expands it pushes the crack in that rock open just a little bit. Then, the ice melts, and that water flows deeper into the new crack it has made, then freezes again, and makes the crack bigger again. This process continues over and over and while somewhat slow, is strong enough to split open huge boulders.

  2. i think it must be ice wedging.

  3. The answer is C--ice wedging.  As water freezes within a crack in a rock, it expands and forces the crack to become wider and deeper until lthe rock splits.
