A comparison of Michael Schumacher, Nico Rosberg until the 2010, 2011 Singapore Grands Prix
Mercedes GP are sitting at fourth position in the constructors’ championship after taking part in 13 rounds of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Both their drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg are still struggling during races and trying to get their best possible position at the end of the ongoing season.
After a disappointing start to the season, the team is still expecting much more from the Mercedes engine for the rest of the 2011 campaign.
If we compare 2010 performance of the Petronas-sponsored team with the current F1 season, we will come to know that Nico Rosberg finished most races on the podium, while in the ongoing season, he has been unable to end his race in the first three positions until now.
His teammate Schumacher has been competitive in the current Formula 1 season when compared to 2010.
With regards to the 2010 F1 season, Rosberg took a strong start by taking fifth position in the first race of the season in Bahrain. He successfully scored 10 points for his team and after struggling with his car, he ended the race ahead of his teammate Schumacher, who managed eight points during the Bahrain Grand Prix.
After that, the German again produced 10 points for the team at the Australian Grand Prix and managed a fifth place as well. The seven-time world champion completed his second round of the season after coming back from his three-year retirement at 10th position.
Rosberg had two consecutive podium finishes last year in Malaysia and China respectively, while Schumacher was unable to score a single point in Malaysia due to his retirement from the race. He was back in the points at the Chinese Grand Prix, where he successfully finished his race at 10th position.
The 26-year-old driver was unable to score a point in the 2010 Spanish Grand Prix, following his positive start in the season. His teammate Schumacher covered most of his gap from the top runners during the Spanish race weekend and managed 12 points for the team as well.
In the following Grand Prix, Rosberg was back in points, while the 42-year-old driver was out from the top ten positions in Monaco. Schumacher and Rosberg scored 12 and 10 points respectively at the Turkish Grand Prix last year. Rosberg managed 8 points in the 2010 Canadian Grand Prix by taking 6th position, while the German failed to finish his race in the points at the Canadian track.
After a fight with their rivals, Rosberg ended his 2010 European Grand Prix by scoring a single point, while Schumacher was pushed back to the field during that.
Rosberg finished his race on the podium for the third time in the 2010 F1 season at the British Grand Prix and scored 15 points for the team as well. Schumacher finished his 2010 British race with 2 points. Rosberg and Schumacher ended their 2010 German Grand Prix with 4 and 2 points respectively.
Both drivers were not able to manage their races for the top ten positions in the 2010 Hungarian Grand Prix. Rosberg and Schumacher were back in the points in the Belgium race weekend last year and they scored 8 and 6 points respectively in the end. Both Germans, Rosberg and Schumacher managed to score 10 and 2 points correspondingly in the 2010 Italian Grand Prix.
After taking part in 14 races of the 2010 Formula 1 season, Rosberg had 112 points while Schumacher was moving towards the rest of the season with 46 points at that point.
Both drivers, Rosberg and Schumacher have struggled a lot with their MGP-W02 car since the start of the 2011 Formula 1 season. Rosberg seems to have strong results in few races of the season after a disappointing start to the season while Schumacher is performing very well for his team from the last couple of races held in Spa and Monza respectively.
After completing 13 rounds so far, Schumacher is at the eighth place with 52 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship, while Rosberg is placed at the seventh position with 56 points in the title fight.
There is a gap of four points between Schumacher and Rosberg in the 2011 championship battle at the moment. Let’s see whether Schumacher beats Rosberg in the drivers’ championship in the last six races of the 2011 F1 season.
