My opponent had just driven the green with the other competitor still on. (Lucky shot!) The other competitor was angered by having been endangered by a flying golf ball. Which rule applies here?

  1. it i grounds for disqualification because the ball was moved in a violent or intentional way...it falls under 1-2....you only get a stroke penalty for unintentional influence on the ball....

  2. Makes no difference whether the shot was lucky or not. Your opponent had no business hitting a ball toward the green while it was still occupied. The penalty to be enforced is the one with the 2 strokes penalty for undue influence on a ball Rule 1-2.

  3. Well there was a breach of Etiquette, in that your opponent hit his shot while the green was occupied.  But the infraction is of 1-2 and in as much as it was clearly intentional....DQ.

  4. The other competitor would be disqualified. it is an intentional rules violation, which would suffer disqualification under rule 1-2. He could be issued a two stroke penalty for affecting the lie, but he did this on purpose. Even though he thought he was in "Danger" Golf does not have rules for uncontrolled emotional actions.

Rule 18-3b would not apply because he picked the ball up intentionally. This rule is for accidental violations. Your partner would be allowed to place his ball as close to the original stopping point as possible, and play from there without penalty.
