  1. Computers have the ability to read DVD's from any region.

But sometimes the DVD player program on the computer is region specific and won't let you play disks from europe or asia.

Or it  will only let you play them a couple of times before permanently changing its region specific zone.

This is done by the movie studios to control release times of new movies in different places and for proprietary reasons.

It doesn't have anything to do with a computers ability to read disks.  Mostly computers just come with software that works with the movie studios.

The trick is using a region free software program to run DVD's.

There are lots of free DVD players on the internet that will play almost all files for you without having to worry about the region.

    Check out:

The VLC player which is also alvailable for MACS

    http://vlc-media-player.en.softonic.com/

    or the DivX player

    http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/downloa...

    Both are free to download.

    Good luck!
