ok, so i really want to get one of these pets, but i keep thinking a parrot is better because it talks, lives longer, and is stronger than a budgie, but ialso keep think that a budgie is cuter than a parrot and makes less mess, and also not noisey like a parrot. But i like them both. i want a parrot that doesnt make too much nosie and is also a cool looking one, but i also love budgies cause theyre so cute!

Which should i get?

Oh, and by the way, im like 12 years old and my mom told me that if i get good grades in school shell get me any bird i want which is very easy cause im already a straight A student!

Thanks!

  1. cool talking parrot!!!

  2. a budgie would probably be a better idea as parrots are alot of work. Parrots also have a tendency to pick up the wrong words. your mom might begin to suspect something when your parrots starts screeching obscenities at the top of its lungs

  3. in 12 i have a budgie i had a parrot but it woke me up in the morning and they are really hard to train them to talk and they bite like so hard but budgies are cute and if its hand-trained it will sit on your shoulder and you can train them to talk! GOOD LUCK

  4. definatly a talking parrot! HOW COOL

  5. i'll choose the parrot

you can teach them lots of stuff to say, it's really fun

  6. TALKING PARROT BUT BE CAREFUL THEY ALMOST BIT MY FRIENDS FINGER OFF

  7. a budgie is a better option if its your first bird.

  8. Less mess for you is better. Go with budgie. Your 12 and your mom will be the one stuck cleaning it. Because you will be playing with friends.

  9. Don't get a parrot! You'll hate yourself for it! They barely talk and all they do is squawk and keep you up at night!

I say don't get a bird at all. I'm not an animal fanatic but I don't believe birds should be caged...

  10. If you haven't had a bird before, get a budgie, cockatiel, or lovebird. If you have had a bird before you could get something small to medium sized like a conure, quaker, senegal, or other small bird. Don't get a big bird like a macaw, cockatoo, or other large bird without first having other birds, reading about them and actually seeing them. The bigger and more intelligent the bird, the more attention and time it needs. You also have to worry about what is legal where you live. Also make sure you know how much space and noise your bird will make. Make sure you research your new bird regardless of what type of bird you get. You don't want your new buddy to be unhappy.

  11. i think that you for sure should go for the budgie

they are soo much less work and they are extremely affectionate

parrots have a tendancy to be aggressive and bite

also... most parrots barely talk... they just squak and scream 24/7 and they are extremely high maintnence

i know that right now getting a big parrot seems cool, but i almost promise you that later youll regret it

i have a budgie and its extremely cute and easy to care for

my cousin though has 2 talking parrots and they never shut up!

    i hope this helped:)

  12. I would get a budgie they are really great pets

  13. Budgies are much easier to take care of, especially for a first time bird owner.

Larger birds are best for people who have some experience in taking care of birds, and how to train them.

And also you should take into consideration the lifespan. Parrots live anywhere from 30 to 100 years. How sad would it be if you had a pet parrot, and then had to leave him at home once you turned 18. College dorms (assuming you go to college) don't allow pets, and either do most apartments or rooms for rent (the cheapest place for most young people to live).

  14. budgies can talk are cute but still make a mess and are easier to move around deff. budgie!!!

good luck with your grades =]

  15. Man get the parrot they are way more awesome than a budgie ,a budgie compared tol parrot is like comparing a rat to a dog. The other reason i say parrot is your age at 12 the parrot could grow old with you some large parrots have lived to be 100 years old.

  16. My advice is to go for the budgie.

Parrots are extremely difficult to care for.  They're like toddlers, and can be VERY demanding.  If you get the parrot, you'll be chained to it for the next 25 years or so.

  17. I have a Congo African Grey Parrot....... he is 10 years old now. We bought him when he was a baby. This bird is one of the smartest birds in the parrot family,  loves attention. His life span is 70 years... They love natural parrot seed, vegetables & fruit.  You can teach them many tricks --can , when taught have a huge vocabulary

  18. If you are only 12 then I would get a budgie. Parrots can live to be 100 and are to big a responsibility for most adults. Plus they cost hundreds of dollars (sometimes even thousands). A much better choice is the budgie, as much as I like parros.

  19. Any bird you get will need your attention every day that is what you should remember before getting one. Parrots are like having a 4 year old child.  They need good care as far as food and clean water and cage maintenance. Even more important they need love and tenderness and patience from you too. If they do not get all the love and attention they need they can turn into a a "Jail Bird" one that can be safe to handle only in their cage.

Budgies are a better choice for you I think. They do require the same food clean water, and clean cage as a parrot. but some lack of attention is not quite as personality forming as with a parrot. And they can be taught to "talk" Mine could say "Pretty Boy" and "Mary had a little lamb" of course it sometimes said "Mary had a little Pretty Boy" really I believe you Can gave 7 to 8 years of fun with your budgie. Please keep his wings clipped so he is not able to fly off and starve in the wild. OK Good Luck in your choice.

  20. get a budgie, i had 1 and she was so nice! i didn't have to do a ton to care for her and she lived longer than any other parrot i know, theres this thing that says if u go behind a parrot sleeping and yell or bark it'll die, my budgie had a cat attacking its cage and my kitty would actully sleep ontop of her cage! the babe still lived really long
