I just took a course to be a CNA. I want to know from CNA's who work at hospitals and nursing homes and if there's anything different about it? I worked with the elderly in a nursing home for my clinicals but I don't see my self doing that kind of job. Also What do CNA's that work 3rd shift at nursing homes do??

  1. Working third shift at nursing home is probably the slowest in terms of working needs.  Some patients must be helped to the bathroom in the middle fo the night.  Some patients most be monitored 24hrs, they may also do vitals for some patients at late hours.

The main difference in working at a hospital and a nursing home is the relationship you build with the residents because they live there you get to know them, at a hospital your patients leave after their stay is complete.  The hospital is very fast paced and every day the unexpected will happen.  The nursing home is slower and more of the same daily routine.
