Hello, I have a couple questions and please try and answer all of them, because they are all important! If I have more oxygen in the water will the p.h. go up? I was reading a book and it said that at night ph is lowest, since their is more carbon dioxide in the water. If I make the oxygen level go up will it affect the ph much then? If I have more oxygen in the water will it help bacteria growth? I read that bacteria take in oxygen, so with higher levels of oxygen would it help the cycle then? Since all my fish like acidic water is it ok that my ph is low? Also, guppies like acidic water too right? I was reading and that was the only fish it didn't say about. I mean like if it liked acidic water or whatever. Also, I have an air pump, but since I keep the temperature up I was wondering if I somehow could make or do something to make the air levels go up without buying something?!?! thanks!

  1. Guppies like their water at 7.0-7.2.  Adding an air pump shouldn't change anything drastically and if you have a heater the temp should stay the same.

  2. Your tank's pH will fluctuate slightly throughout the day, this is normal. Oxygen won't really affect the pH, but there isn't really any need to mess with it anyway unless there is a huge difference between day and night pH. Oxygen is of course vital to everything that lives in your tank, bacteria included, so an air pump wouldn't be a bad idea. Warmer water holds less oxygen. And your guppies will be fine, they are very adaptable.

  3. ok lets say you have guppies and other like fish (community fish) your water temperature should be at 80-84 you can have lots of air pumps my guppies love to play in the bubble walls they breed like crazy and are very happy. as long as you change the water say 25% every other week and keep the filters clean you should be fine. you can buy a ph testing kit at petsmart for about $8 this will help you with your ph worries they also sell ph up and ph down to help you keep your ph in check. Try to keep your tank away from sunlight this will help things "grow" in your tank. Buy some aquarium salt also at petsmart for about $2 this is very good for your fish and will help keep Stress or Disease way down and the fish need it in their bobys. hope this helped you
