  1. tetra pond filter is good filter if you got only low stock of koi.  If your pond got many kois in it you need to build your own filter chamber.  because these type of filter is too small but efficient in doing their task but you have to keep on cleaning the filter since its not big enough for heavy populated koi pond. The advantage in this you don't have to customized your filter the downside you should keep on checking it if it is already full of waste.

6 hours a day digging alone for a 4000 gallons of pond will take time unless you got a machine to help you dig.  To make your job easier dig half and high rise the other half if you are planning to have a concrete pond.

buying kois don't buy koi for the sake of having it buy koi types that you really love there are lots of varieties of koi buying koi online might be easier but buying it in the stores and choosing the best of the best feels different.  One thing quarantine your new fishes before introducing them in your pond to avoid headaches.  Inorder to save money buy kois at 6 inches they will grow fast in outdoor pond.

  2. Go to www.cheapfish.co.uk for really cheap koi. May I suggest small koi and a bunch of them a big school of small koi looks pretty neat. Instead of a few big fat slow koi

  3. all tetra filters are great for any fish or reptile use and should do fine for koi or large goldfish. For digging the pond, it really depends on how many people you are working with. If you do it alone, then it shouldnt take more than a week. If you need to find cheap koi, try petsolutions.com or your local petsmart has smaller, younger koi for your pond. Best of luck, put up pics if you can.

  4. i would recommend a laguna or  aquios filter over the tetras but if it's what's in your price range or the best avialable they are definitely worth it over not using a filter.. and the UV filter is a plus, but not a necessity.

it took me and my brother about 30 hours to dig our 2,400 galloner

personally any good fish store that sells koi should have some good lookers for fairly cheap (for koi) about $15-30 depending on size.

of course the higher and higher quality the greater the price-tag

ew got one medium grade showa at about 5'' for $18

  5. yes its good.  u.v. sterelizers are needed because they help control viruses/diseases in the pond.  You can but Koi at most pet shops.
