A cousin had a serious accident in rome. What kind of aid can husband get for housing etc.?

Cousin on tour fell getting off bus. Serious brain injury. 2 surgeries In San Camillo Hosp., Rome. Husband alone, only speaks english. To save on expenses during long confinement, looking for ideas. They are in their 60's..Thanks.

Try any house of nuns were they rent rooms. They are usually good, cheap and clean places. Some of them have even a small kitchenette so they can save some money by cooking thier own food. I hope everything goes well and you find what you need.

Look on Craigslist.org for temporary housing.  A lot of people rent apartments or villas that are furnished.  I have seen some pretty good deals on there for monthly and weekly rates.  It would be less expensive than staying in a hotel.

Edited to add, I just looked at craigslist and there is some stuff listed for 450, 600, 800 per month.  You could also email and ask if there are any discounts available if he is planning on renting for several months.  Good luck.

I was so sorry to read of your cousin’s dilemma.

The Roman Catholic Church  has a great many “Case d’Accoglienza”, managed by the different Orders (Monks, Nuns and Lay brothers). There are Hotels and/or Bed & Breakfasts, a vast choice.They even accept non Catholics and judging  by the predicament your cousin is in they would definitely offer him special weekly or monthly rates. They are clean and well run.
