A crack in the concrete 1950's house floor ...?

I can see the crack in the floor of the bedroom, and also underneath in the ceiling in the hallway. I know there has been a little settling in the house on that side anyway, and the floor seems extremely solid. It's only a thin crack of about 3mm at the widest.

Is this something to be concerned with? or can I just fill it with maybe a flexible cement and then parquet over the top?

  1. we need to know more ..are you saying that the bedroom ceiling is concrete ?....if it is you need a structural engineer to look at it ..here in the uk all bedroom floors are wood except in flats ...

  2. Hmmm.  I'd test for radon gas, but I'm not aware of any further ramifications.  Not because there aren't any!  I'm just not too knowledgeable about foundations and other construction matters.

    good luck!

  3.   If every thing checks out ok your best bet is a caulk made for cement.. I ve never heard of a flexible cement..Caulking will let the cement do any natural movement w/o breaking up  GL
