  1. Assume Young’s modulus for titanium  is 110,000 N/mm2

    Area of bar = 3.8^2 x PI/4 = 11.34mm2

    Young’s modulus = Stress/strain

    Stress is 2000N/11.34 = 176.35N/mm2

    Strain is delta L / L

    Delta L = 0.42mm

    So 110000 = 176.35/0.42 x L

    L = 110000 x 0.42/176.35 = 261.98mm
