  1. Juilliard is a very good one in nyc

  2. There's Julliard and Alvin Ailley that I can think of. I wouldn't just stop with those. New York City is full of dance studios taught by professionals.

  3. search new york city academy of arts.

  4. Given the dance styles that your brother is interested in, I recommend that he consider The Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory:

    http://www.hdcny.com/index.html

Their stated mission is to provide comprehensive, professional training in hip-hop dance and related subjects. As their web site states:

"Core studies include improvisation (freestyle), composition, theory, hip-hop history, and anatomy and physiology, acting for dancers, audition preparation, pedagogy, theatre, hip-hop dance history, b-boy fundamentals, videography, dance notation, popping, locking, boogaloo and funkstyling, dance kinesiology, health and nutrition, and choreography analysis."

Another excellent dance studio that offers top-notch, professional training in hip-hop, jazz funk, etc, is the Broadway Dance Center.

Although they do not offer any dance-related academic subjects, they are authorized under Federal Law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students through their Visa Program:

As for the other recommendations so far...

The New York Academy of Art is for visual arts and offers no dance instruction.

The "Maryland School of the Arts" is a fictional school.

And the focus of Juilliard and The Ailey School is on ballet and modern dance and neither offer any hip-hop classes.

  5. well, i don't know how old he is, but there's a college in baltimore, maryland called MSA, Maryland School of the Arts. thats where both step up and step up 2: the streets were filmed.
