A day to remember for Aditi Ashok - Hero Women’s Indian Open
The day was stolen by the 14-year-old Indian, Aditi Ashok, on the first day of the Hero Women’s Indian Open tournament.
The teenager, Aditi Ashok stepped onto the field with the top players of the Ladies European Tour, but the girl from India made a name for herself by playing some excellent golf in the first round.
The way the Indian carried herself on the course was something to talk about. She had this calm and composed look on her face.
The amateur golfer, Aditi, surprised the people not only with her magnificent first round game but also with the aura she was carrying around with her.
Aditi talked about, how the first round of the Hero Women’s Indian Open reflects the hard work and commitment she has put in the game.
The 14-year-year old said, "I am happy to be on top of the leaderboard with such experienced pros but I don't want to get ahead of myself".
Aditi’s proud father said that she deserves all the success in her golfing career because she is really committed to the sport
Aditi was still a 5-year-old when she held a putter. Her love for the sport began in the early days of her life. She had already won her first amateur tournament before her 10th birthday.
She went on to lift the trophy as champion of a professional tournament when she was 13 years old.
This is the second appearance for the Indian on the fairways of DLF Golf and Country Club. Aditi carded a 13-over par in the same tournament last year.
Her scorecard on the first day of the 2012 version of the Hero Women’s Indian Open Tournament was flourishing with birdies. However, the teenager made two bogeys on the 5th and the 10th hole.
Whenever the Indian hit a bad shot, she overcame it by playing the following shot equally better. Aditi is playing alongside the Welsh Becky Brewerton and the Italian Stefania Croce.
What is on the cards for the Indian teenager on the second day is yet to be seen.
Some players are finding it difficult to adjust to the Indian greens. Caroline Hedwall fell all the way down the leaderboard due to a three-over par score on the first day.
